TR-2009015: Knowledge-Based Rational Decisions and Nash Paths
نویسنده
چکیده
The knowledge-based rational decision model (KBR-model) offers an approach to rational decision making in a non-probabilistic setting, e.g., in perfect information games with deterministic payoffs. The KBR-model uses standard game-theoretical assumptions and suggests following a strategy yielding the highest payoff which the agent can secure to the best of his knowledge. In this report, we prove a conjecture by A. Brandenburger that in perfect information games, each KBR-path is a Nash path.

TR-2009006: Intelligent Players
Rational decisions depend on what players know, hence an appropriate epistemic analysis is an integral element of the foundations of Game Theory. We suggest a general logical approach for studying games which consists of formalizing rationality and games in epistemic logic and deriving their properties in the resulting logical system. We study a number of examples and demonstrate that our model...

The knowledge-based rational decision model (KBR-model), developed in [1], offers an approach to rational decision making in a non-probabilistic setting, e.g., in perfect information games with deterministic payoffs. The KBR-model is an epistemically explicit form of standard game-theoretical assumptions, e.g., Harsanyi’s Maximin Postulate. This model suggests following maximin strategy over al...
متن کاملTR-2009011: Knowledge-Based Rational Decisions
We outline a mathematical model of rational decision-making based on standard game-theoretical assumptions: 1) rationality yields a payoff maximization given the player’s knowledge; 2) the standard logic of knowledge for Game Theory is the modal logic S5. Within this model, each game has a solution and rational players know which moves to make at each node. We demonstrate that uncertainty in ga...
متن کاملTR-2013007: On Definitive Solutions of Strategic Games
In his dissertation of 1950, Nash based his concept of the solution to a game on the assumption that “a rational prediction should be unique, that the players should be able to deduce and make use of it.” We study when such definitive solutions exist for strategic games with ordinal payoffs. We offer a new, syntactic approach: instead of reasoning about the specific model of a game, we deduce p...
